Four Legged Foodies stay at this beautiful dog friendly hotel in Wandsworth.
We recently visited The Spread Eagle in Wandsworth for dinner and an overnight stay and are pleased to report that it far exceeded our expectations.
We have driven past the pub hundreds of times as it is on the Wandsworth gyratory, and despite the grand façade of this huge pub, we never thought of visiting. But we are so glad we finally did.
Across the covered courtyard from the pub you will find the hotel which has 21 beautifully decorated rooms with plenty of space for pooches to stay with their humans.
The hotel is a grade II listed Victorian building which has been restored with many original features remaining.
Beds, bowls and treats await four legged guests in the room.
Nacho checked out the mini bar - just water for him!
Like the hotel, the pub is a beautiful Victorian building that has been recently restored. It is a huge space with a wonderful bar and a mixture of comfy seats and tables.
The building has been a Young's Pub since 1836 and has a rich history which you can read more about here.
We visited on a Sunday so we could sample their famous roasts and we weren't disappointed.
Our humans sampled 28-day day aged fore rib of beef and Rolled Blyburgh pork belly with all the trimmings and lashings of scrumptious gravy. Accompanied nicely by some red wine.
We gave them just the right amount of adorable looks to make sure we got a taste too!
With full bellies all round, we retired to our room for a good night's sleep.
Our room faced the busy road but fortunately it's not that busy overnight and we didn't hear the traffic until it was time to get up for breakfast.
Breakfast is served back in the pub with choices like eggs benedict, Orange and Fennel Cured Smoked Salmon, scrambled Eggs, Smashed Avo etc but the humans always go for a full English with extra sausage for us!
We walked off that extra sausage at nearby Wandsworth Park which is just a short stroll from The Spread Eagle. It's a small park but has great views of the Thames.
We had a perfect night at The Spread Eagle and highly recommend to our friends visiting London for a reasonably priced stay, just 15 minutes from central London.
