6 dog friendly places with stunning outdoor dining!
As you know, we only consider a place to be truly dog friendly if they welcome us inside and out.
Twelve years ago, when Archie was a pup, these places were rare and we would sit outside restaurants come rain or snow just so he could join us.
We are so grateful that things have progressed so much since then but when the sun is shining it's still nice to sit outside so the humans can get their dose of vitamin D. We don't like the hot weather so we always appreciate a place that offers us some shade too!
Here are 6 of our favourite Al Fresco dining spots! (We have yet to meet this Al whoever he is).
Oh and all 6 places welcome us inside too!
The Hare & Hounds is a Young's pub in East Sheen with one of the largest and most tastefully decorated gardens we have ever seen.
No overflowing ashtrays or dirty floors here, instead there are olive trees, lavender bushes and cute little dining cabins, all making this an ideal place to spend a sunny evening.
Pooches have a bar inside to help themselves to treats and water and humans can choose from good selection of above average pub grub!
Hare & Hounds 214-216 Upper Richmond Rd W, London SW14 8AH
From the front of Paladar, you would have no idea that this beautiful secret garden was hiding at the back.
The restaurant is worth a visit for the garden alone (which is actually covered so good at any time of year) but the human food is some of the best they had this year! The menu is inspired by Latin American cuisine and each plate (whether large or small) is packed with flavour that will leave you wanting to visit this Southwark restaurant time an again.
Pooches get treats and water and lots of attention from staff.
Another of the human's favourite places is Villa di Geggiano in Chiswick which is beautifully decorated inside with a partially covered terrace that makes you feel like you are in the Tuscan countryside that inspires this restaurant.
Staff here are soooo dog friendly that they even have photos of their Four Legged friends on their gallery wall.
The food also reflects the Tuscan heritage with authentic recipes and ingredients making this one of THE best places for Italian food in London.
Villa di Geggiano 66-68 Chiswick High Rd., Chiswick, London W4 1SY
The Broadcaster is a huge pub/restaurant right next to Television Centre in White City.
Take the lift to the 2nd floor, where you will find a stunning roof terrace with plenty of space and its own bar.
The humans enjoyed a delicious brunch here while we feasted on treats delivered to our table by super friendly staff. The food is beautifully presented with a varied mane and some excellent cokctails.
if you hang around long enough, you might even bump into a TV celeb (maybe this is where the infamous Al Fresco hangs out)!!
Another pub/restaurant with lots of space is The Arber Garden in Fitzrovia which has multiple rooms inside where pooches are welcome.
Outside in the traffic-free Pearson Square, you can relax under cover in the pretty floral terrace.
The waiter made sure we were happy first by bringing treats and the humans had a fabulous lunch washed down with a cocktail. We previously visited for Sunday lunch which also comes highly recommended by the humans.
If you are visiting King's Cross for The Big Woof this weekend (or any other time) , then you must try out The Lighterman.
This pub/restaurant has not one but three outdoor terraces! On ground level you can take lunch overlooking the fountains in Granary Square or if you prefer to look down on people, you can sip a sundowner on the first floor balcony. The third option is to enjoy a summer evening overlooking the canal on the lower ground floor terrace.
The menu for human food is a good variety and our humans highly recommend the flatbreads (they've tried them all)!
This week (21st to 27th August) pooches can choose from their own doggie menu in collaboration with Caboodle.
